Taking the road less traveled is a risk, but it is one that Destineak has not been afraid to take. Arguably the most unique musical out fit in Vancouver, these two know what it takes to get noticed. Destineak is Christina Sing and Bobby James, two souls hell-bent on writing and performing fresh, electronic music - dirty electro permeated with vocal hooks and infectious beats.

Although they are seeing their first release this year, they have been performing non-stop for the last 4. This all due to their surreal, innovative live show. A feast for the senses, these two arrive with a performance complete with live drums, vocals, keys, and visuals synced to every beat. If you’ve been at one, you know that everyone in the front row inevitably ends up wet with the sweat flying off of Bobby as he mercilessly pounds on his drum kit. The crowd seems to have forgotten where the exit is, after following the duo through vortexes, rockets and forests that are projected on the video screens behind them. Christina has somehow managed to keep her mohawk straight after singing with an energy driven prance deserving of a nod from Ms. Turner herself.

It is no wonder that these two have been asked to play some huge venues including:
Devonian Gardens (Calgary), Telus Whistler Conference Centre, The Commodore, Santa Clara Centre (CA), The Cocoon Club (Germany), The Ford Center, La Mirada Centre (LA), San Jose Centre for Performing Arts (CA), and Canada Place.

They have been commissioned to compose original shows for
CTV, Fitness World, Heineken, Bacardi, Toyota, Microsoft, Redbull and The Vancouver Pride Society to name a few.

Most rewarding of it all is that audiences remember the songs, and arrive at the next show ready to sing along. Christina and Bobby take great pride in writing great lyrics and transforming them into dance floor savvy tracks.

“What ever happened to the rock anthem? I think somewhere in the nineties we lost that ‘Bon Jovi’ attitude about songs,” says Bobby. “Sure you can be a virtuoso on your instrument, but if you can’t write something that sticks, neither do you.”

It’s no wonder that Bobby has this kind of attitude about songwriting. He has signed 3 major record deals as the beat machine behind rock bands
Young Gun, DDT (TMC/Electra), and Noise Therapy (Redline Entertainment). He has been touring the world since the age of 17, sharing arena stages with bands such as Static X, Kid Rock, Megadeth, Scorpions, and more. Bobby went on to form his one-man drum, soundtrack and visual show “Drumattic” in 2002, where he fed his new-found addiction to trance and house music.

Equally obsessed with dance music, Christina declares: “I love all music, but there has never been anything like that first time I danced until sunrise to house music. It was a religious experience. I won’t deny it: club culture has made me the creative being I am today.”

Christina has been performing in Canada for 10 years, fronting numerous acid jazz and funk bands before Destineak. A classically trained vocalist, she was inducted into the Vancouver dance music scene in 1998 during her deep house collaborations with producer
Sean Dimitrie (Bombay Records). Throughout a span of 5 years they produced 4 worldwide releases “S’more” (Transport), “Time” (PFB), “Every Player’s Dream (Village), and “Huff n’ Puff” (Om), all which received considerable airplay in Canada, Europe and Asia.

So this is where the fairytale is headed: Bobby and Christina are in love. They make music, and are not afraid to work hard to get it heard.
This year, Decks Tracks is releasing Destineak’s first single
“Gimme What I Came For,” a galloping whirl wind of vocals and synths sure to get all the good ones dancing.
Destineak is finishing up their EP for release in Fall 2009, and then it is off to conquer the world one stage at a time with their infectious energy.
“We are coming up and at you LOUD! Listen up!”
Destineak: a unique destination.
